前回の続きでmimeタイプについて書きます。
実際MIMEタイプというものを普段は意識して書いたりすることは普段ほとんどありません。
MIMEタイプってどれ？
HTMLで書いても、XHTMLで書くときも、先頭から数行以内に記述ができます。
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
この"text/html"、実はXHTMLの場合本来は、"application/xhtml+xml"と書かなければなりません。
しかし、この記述で書くとブラウザ側が認識しないため、XHTMLであっても"text/html"という風に記述することになりました。
結局、XHTML5として"application/xhtml+xml"で書いてもブラウザが認識しないので、MIMEタイプは"text/html"でOKということになります。
記法として、XHTML形式で書くか、HTML形式で書くかの違いしかありません。
どうしても、XHTML5で書くという方はシリアライズのこととか学んだらいいかと思います。
